FAQs

Got a question? We’re here to help.

  • 1. When does coverage begin?

Coverage begins on the day your Agreement is received with payment and accepted by NVP Direct LLC . Based on the time and mileage plan terms you select, coverage time is “added-on” from the date of purchase and coverage miles are “added-on” to your existing odometer miles as of the date of purchase. When comparing vehicle protection plans, be aware that some provider’s plans delay the start of coverage by 30 days and 1,000 miles. Additionally, some provider’s plans do not add the plan’s mileage term to vehicle’s current odometer miles. That means that the mileage term is partially used up because the coverage began back at zero odometer miles. These plans may be asking you to pay for coverage on mileage that has already occurred in the past.

  • 2. When does coverage expire?

The expiration of coverage is determined from the date you purchase your Service Contract. Your coverage time and coverage miles are “added on” from the date and existing odometer miles at the time of Plan purchase. For example, if your vehicle has 42,000 odometer miles on March 16, 2010 when you purchase a 6 year / 60,000 mile Plan, the Plan will expire 6 years later on March 16, 2016 or 60,000 miles later at 102,000 odometer miles, whichever occurs first.

  • 3. What makes NVP Warranty Plans different from other vehicle repair contracts?

For select plans, NVP will cover most all of your vehicle’s components except those listed in Exclusions.  If you also selected and paid for a Wear and Tear surcharge on the application page, NVP Warranty will cover basic wear and tear of covered components as outlined under the contract for the length of your plan.

Most vehicles are eligible up to 20 model years of age with current odometer mileage up to 225,000 miles – even if they are outside of the original factory warranty. Additionally, some provider’s plans do not add the plan’s mileage term to a vehicle’s current odometer miles. That means that the mileage term is partially used up because the coverage began back at zero odometer miles. These plans may be asking you to pay for coverage on mileage that has already occurred in the past. (NVP has contracts that start a 0 mileage) – Exclusionary Wrap

NVP Warranty will authorize covered repairs at more than 5,000 repair centers in the U.S. and Canada. You may also choose any licensed repair facility, unlike many competitors’ contracts.

  • 4. Are parts and labor covered?

Yes, parts and labor are included for a covered claim per the VSC terms and conditions and depending on the level of coverage you select.

  • 5. How do I make a claim?

The process is simple. If your vehicle needs repair, your licensed repair facility should call NVP Warranty toll-free at (888) 270-5835 for pre-authorization. A claims adjuster will assist the service person from your repair facility to quickly process your claim. Your vehicle can be repaired at any licensed repair facility in the U.S. or Canada. As soon as the pre-authorized repair is finished, the repair facility will fax your repair order to NVP Warranty. Claim payments for covered repairs are made directly to the repair facility via credit card by fax or email.

  • 6. Do I need NVP coverage if my vehicle is still under factory warranty?

There are a number of benefits to owning an NVP Warranty while your vehicle is still covered under the original factory warranty; and our coverages wrap-around the manufacturers warranty. Please see our Service Agreements for details on that coverage and benefits.

  • 7. My vehicle is not currently under factory warranty, but it’s very reliable. Do I need an NVP Warranty?

Mechanical breakdowns are a reality for even the most reliable vehicles and that is why the manufacturer only offers warranties for a limited coverage period and coverage level. As your vehicle gets older and has more miles on it, the likelihood of experiencing a breakdown increases dramatically, especially after the manufacturer’s warranty has expired. A Service Contract from NVP is a good way to protect yourself from an unexpected and costly repair bill in the future.

  • 8. Can I buy a plan if my manufacturer’s warranty has expired?

Yes. You may still purchase a Service Contract after the original manufacturer’s warranty has expired. In fact, there is never a more important time to have the security of a NVP Warranty than when your vehicle is beyond the manufacturer’s warranty.  An NVP Warranty may only be purchased from an approved selling dealer at the same time you purchase your vehicle.  NVP Warranty does not sell directly to consumers.

  • 9. Is there a preferred list of repair facilities to take my vehicle if it needs repair?

NVP Warranty does not have a preferred list of repair shops because we will accept a claim submitted by any Licensed Repair Facility in the US and Canada.

  • 10. If I have a problem with my vehicle, how long will it take for NVP to process my claim?

Over 80% of claims are resolved the same day they are received by NVP.

  • 11. What happens if my car breaks down while I am traveling?

Roadside assistance is included with all plans sold by NVP.  For additional peace of mind, Trip Interruption benefits are included on 5 Star and Exclusionary contracts.

  • 12. Who do I contact for roadside assistance?

Call 888-270-5835 and select OPTION 1
